Help me raise money for the Cham youth in Cambodia!

I was lucky enough to travel around the world in a unique abroad experience called Semester at Sea. During this learning experience I stopped at 13 countries including South Africa, Brazil, India, China, Vietnam and Cambodia. The one place that stuck out to me and stayed in my heart throughout my travels was the warm, friendly and beautiful Camboida. I remember a little boy who was selling postcards to me and the other tourists and to get our attention was naming every state and capitol in the U.S! I can’t even do that! I was so impressed by his knowlegde that I felt that it should not be wasted peddling trinkets. Ever since I started a food blog I have felt blessed to be able to enjoy delicious meals that I am paying for with the money I have earned by going to school and going to college. I want to provide children like that little boy an education so that they can break the shackles of their poverty and learn skills that make them employable.

My goal is to raise $1000.00 for the Cham youth in Cambodia. Help me and GO Campaign establish a vocational school and training program in the Svay Khleang Village to serve 1,080 Cham youth annually so that they can acquire employable computer and English skills to continue on to higher education and become gainfully employed. Going forward I will be donating 10% of my bill for the restaurants I blog about. However, feel free to help me achieve this goal even faster by donating as well. Anything and everything is greatly appreciated!

The GO Campaign is an innovative charity organization that works with grass roots campaigns in developing countries to find out what is really needed in a community. They specifically focus on helping children and they work with local leaders to ensure that all of the money donated goes towards creating a sustainable and bright future of them. 100% percent of funds raised go directly to the cause of your choosing (in my case, the Cham youth). Consider creating your own fundraising goal for a cause that you are passionate about, there are tons of grass roots campaigns that need your support and the GO Campaign is a great way to make a difference!

Great idea Lauren. I had not seen that picture of you with the children in Cambodia. A great experience. You must have some wonderful parents to send you on that journey.
